  • 2018-2019 School Hours

    Beginning in the 18-19 school year, Blue Ridge ISD will implement a 30 Minute Late Start Friday for every Friday of the year. This is designed to provide teachers additional time for collaboration and professional learning. All campuses will open at 7:15 a.m. each morning including Fridays. On Fridays, students will have the option of arriving anytime from 7:15-8:25. All buses will remain on the same schedule and will arrive at the regular time. • 2018-2019 BRISD School Calendar

    The BRISD Board of Trustees adopted the 2018-2019 school calendar at the February 19, 2018 meeting.  The calendar is very similar to the calendar adopted last year.  It is important to note the district is required to have a calendar that has 75,600 minutes of instruction for students; therefore, our calendar has 77,160 minutes of instruction.  This means that the school will bank 3.5 days of instruction in the event that we have to close school due to weather or some emergency.  Furthermore, it means that the district would not have to use the bad weather days that are listed on the calendar until our banked days are used first.
    Additionally, the calendar includes a "30 Minute Late Start Friday" for every Friday of the year, so that teachers can work together to create better instruction, intervention plans for students, align curriculum, and receive local and state-mandated training from 7:30 - 8:20 on Fridays.  Students will be able to arrive at school at 7:15 a.m., like every other school day, or arrive 30 minutes later on Friday.  To ensure student safety as well as meaningful engagement, each campus will provide places for students to attend study halls, character education presentations, or other activities that are aligned with district initiatives and goals.

    A link to the 18-19 calendar can be found here: http://brisd.net/domain/377

    Highlights of the calendar:
    * First day of school: August 20
    * Fair Day: October 8
    * Full week at Thanksgiving
    * Christmas Holiday: December 20 - January 8
    * Spring Semester begins: January 9
    * Spring Break: March 11-15
    * Bad Weather Day on Good Friday, April 19
    * Last Day for students: May 24
