At Blue Ridge ISD, we use beginning-of-year assessments to help us understand where students are starting in their learning. For many years, students in grades K–8 have taken these assessments in reading, math, and in other state tested content areas. The results give teachers important information to guide instruction, monitor progress, and celebrate growth throughout the year.
This year, we are expanding this practice to include elective courses. Collecting information across content areas will help us better understand each student’s strengths and needs, giving us a more complete picture of their learning journey. With this insight, we can provide more tailored support so every student has the opportunity to grow and succeed.
During the week of September 2nd, we will be on a modified bell schedule to allow students ample time to complete each assessment. Students will still attend every class period, every day. Dual credit students who access their classes online or attend their dual credit classes at BRHS will follow the modified bell schedule. Dual credit students who travel to Farmersville will continue on their regular schedule at Collin College. They will make up their BOY testing on a separate day.
Thank you for your partnership as we work together to provide meaningful learning experiences for all students.
