Blue Ridge ISD is excited to share that it has launched a School-Based Telehealth program in partnership with Children’s Health Virtual Care to support the health and well-being of our students.
This program will provide families with convenient access to trusted pediatric care, both at school and at home, using secure video technology.
What is School-Based Telehealth?
School-Based Telehealth allows your child to connect with a Children’s Health pediatric provider through a video visit if they become ill during the school day. With your permission, your child can be evaluated, diagnosed, and, if needed, have prescriptions sent directly to your preferred pharmacy.
How it works at school
If your enrolled child becomes ill at school:
The school nurse will determine if a telehealth visit is appropriate.
A parent or guardian will be contacted before the appointment and must provide both written and verbal consent.
Parents may join the visit online or by phone, and interpretation services are available.
The school nurse will connect your child with a Children’s Health provider using secure video technology.
After the visit, a summary will be shared with you and, when appropriate, with your child’s primary care pediatrician to support continued care.
Telehealth at home
In addition to school-based visits, families can access urgent care services for children and adults from home through Virtual Visit by Children’s Health Virtual Care, offering convenient care from almost anywhere.
