school board month

January is School Board Recognition Month, a time to celebrate the dedicated leadership and service of local elected trustees who guide the future of public education. Across Texas, school districts recognize the vital role that board members play in ensuring high-quality learning environments for students and strong governance for their communities.

School boards provide local governance and oversight, adopting policies and goals that set the direction for the district, hiring and evaluating the superintendent, approving the budget and tax rate, and communicating with the community to support student success.

Blue Ridge ISD extends heartfelt gratitude to the members of our Board of Trustees for their volunteer service and leadership:

  • John Gaulden, President

  • Kevin Dauster, Vice President

  • Scott Cessna, Secretary

  • Jenna Capps

  • Matt Grier

  • Gary Lillard

  • Lonnie Murphy

These trustees generously devote their time, expertise, and passion to guiding Blue Ridge ISD forward. Their commitment helps ensure that every student in our district has access to excellent educational opportunities and a supportive school community.

As elected representatives, our trustees govern on behalf of all Blue Ridge ISD families. Their responsibilities include adopting district goals and policies, hiring and evaluating the superintendent, overseeing financial decisions, and serving as ambassadors for the district within our community.

Thank you, Board Members, for your service and leadership! We are grateful for your steadfast dedication to our students, staff, and the entire Blue Ridge community.
