Ashley Helms

The Blue Ridge ISD Board of Trustees approved the superintendent's recommendation of Ashley Helms for the Chief Academic Officer position. Mrs. Helms will lead the teaching and learning efforts of the district which include curriculum, instruction, and assessments. 

Ashley Helms is an accomplished educational leader with an extensive background in curriculum development, instructional design, and strategic planning. She holds a B.S. in Secondary Education and an M.Ed. in Middle and Secondary Education from Southwestern Assemblies of God University.

Starting her career in the classroom, Mrs. Helms swiftly transitioned into leadership roles, utilizing her skills to mentor teachers and navigate instructional strategies for enhanced student success. Over the years, she has assumed various administrative roles across different school districts, employing her expertise in strategic planning, curriculum design, professional learning, and support for special education and emergent bilingual students.

 Ashley enjoys presenting at both state and national conferences. She is a proud graduate and a current coach of the Learning Forward Academy, an intensive three-year program dedicated to school improvement via strategic implementation and evaluation of district programs and initiatives.

Mrs. Helms has been happily married to David Helms for nearly 24 years. They have two sons, Hunter, 22, a recent graduate from Purdue with a double major in Industrial Engineering and Spanish, now working at Texas Instruments, and Levi, 20, currently enrolled in an accelerated graduate program at the University of Oklahoma’s Price School of Business.  Ashley is a hobby gardener, loves to crochet, and is always ready to talk about the book she is reading!
