Blue Ridge ISD Superintendent of Schools Announces Resignation Effective May 23, 2026
The Blue Ridge ISD Board of Trustees announced that Superintendent of Schools Dr. Darrell Floyd has submitted his resignation - effective May 23, 2026, concluding three years of dedicated service to the district.
During his tenure, Dr. Floyd provided steady and visionary leadership, guiding the district through a period of significant progress. Most notably, the district successfully passed a $59.4 million bond election with 69% voter approval in May 2025 - an achievement that reflects strong community trust and support. These funds have been, and will be, instrumental in improving facilities and preparing the district for future growth.
Under Dr. Floyd’s leadership, the district experienced measurable improvements in curriculum and instruction, academic achievement, and extracurricular program success. Students earned local, state, and national recognition across a wide range of academic, fine arts, FFA/Ag., UIL, and other extracurricular activities. Among some of the district’s notable accomplishments during Dr. Floyd’s tenure:
· Blue Ridge Elementary being named a National Showcase School for the Capturing Kids’ Hearts program,
· Blue Ridge High School students earning more than $1.27 million in scholarships,
· The district being named one of only 78 districts nationwide to receive the National BETA District of Distinction Award, and
· The administration and board maintaining strong fiscal stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
Dr. Floyd also focused on building systems and structures that will support long-term success, leaving the district well positioned for continued academic excellence and responsible growth.
“The Board is deeply grateful for Dr. Floyd’s leadership and commitment to our students, staff, and community,” said Board President John Gaulden. “His impact will be felt for years to come. The district extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Floyd for his service and wishes him continued success in all of his future endeavors.”
The Board of Trustees will begin the process of selecting the next Superintendent in the coming months, with assistance from Doug Williams and Impact Education Specialists.
