The Blue Ridge ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted at a called board meeting on May 6, 2026, to name Dr. Matthew Brown as the Lone Finalist for the position of Superintendent. Per state law, there will be a 21-day waiting period before Dr. Brown can officially be hired as superintendent. The Board anticipates officially hiring him at its regular meeting on May 27th.
Dr. Matthew Brown currently serves as Executive Director of Student Services for Mansfield ISD and brings broad experience in educational leadership, student services, campus administration, and school operations.
Throughout his career as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and district administrator, Dr. Brown has served at the elementary, intermediate, and secondary levels, providing him with a strong understanding of student learning and leadership across all grade spans. He has dedicated his career to building strong relationships with families and communities, strengthening school culture, serving and supporting educators, and improving outcomes for students.
“I am humbled and honored to serve the students, staff, families, and community of Blue Ridge ISD. My family and I are truly excited to become part of a community that takes great pride in its schools and values strong relationships. I believe every student can learn at high levels, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure they have the support and opportunities needed to succeed. Students are most successful when they know the adults around them genuinely care and believe in what they can achieve. I look forward to listening, building trust, and working alongside the Blue Ridge community to support students while honoring the traditions and values that make Blue Ridge special. Raise the Ridge!”
The superintendent search was conducted in partnership with Impact Education Specialists, an education consulting company made up of former and current Texas superintendents. The Board worked closely with this group, along with Blue Ridge teachers, administrators, and community members, to identify an exceptional fit for the district.
“On behalf of the Board, I want to thank our staff, students, parents, and community members for their support and input during this important process,” stated Board President John Gaulden shortly after the meeting.
“The Board remained focused on identifying a leader who is committed to academic excellence, strong relationships, and the success and well-being of every student,” Mr. Gaulden continued. “Dr. Matthew Brown brings a proven record of educational leadership and a deep commitment to serving students, supporting educators, and engaging with the community. We are excited about the future of Blue Ridge ISD under Dr. Brown’s leadership and believe he will continue to build on the strong foundation already in place.”
Dr. Brown is slated to assume superintendent responsibilities within the district on May 28th.
