At its recent meeting, the Blue Ridge Independent School District (BRISD) Board of Trustees unanimously approved a resolution to establish the Blue Ridge ISD Police Department.
This decision marks a significant step in the district’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all students, staff, and campuses. The newly formed department will be responsible for providing a dedicated law enforcement presence throughout the district, enhancing emergency preparedness, and fostering strong relationships between law enforcement and the school community.
Superintendent Dr. Darrell Floyd stated, “The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. Establishing the Blue Ridge ISD Police Department allows us to proactively address security needs with officers who understand and support our educational mission.”
The district will now begin the process of hiring a Director of Safety & Security/Chief of Police and securing all necessary approvals and certifications from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
