BRISD hires Trent Hamilton as new BRHS Principal
Blue Ridge High School New Principal
The BRISD School Board approved Trent Hamilton as the next BRHS principal. The hiring process began when the former BRHS principal, Dr. Chris MIller, resigned on June 29th. The district utilized student, parent, and staff surveys to create a profile and develop the interview process. Common characteristics from the survey were finding a principal who listens well and values student ideas and opinions, supports teachers and staff, collaborates with stakeholders, who will provide consistency while continuing the campus’s direction, and is heavily engaged by attending events, visiting classrooms, and interacting with students and parents.
After receiving more than 60 applications, the interview team interviewed several candidates and narrowed the list to a lone finalist, Mr. Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton most recently served as the Trenton Middle School Principal since 2013. He had recently moved into a new role as high school assistant principal in Anna.
Mr. Hamilton has 11 years of school administrative experience, serving as a middle school principal and assistant principal in Trenton and Sherman, respectively. He also has 5 years of high school science teaching experience in Howe and Commerce.
Mr. Hamilton received his Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree at A&M Commerce and obtained his Superintendent Certification at A&M Texarkana. He is also a spokesperson and ambassador for the Make-a-Wish Foundation and serves on the A&M Commerce Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Mr. Hamilton has two sons who attend Blue Ridge ISD. His wife, Dena, is the district librarian. The district is excited to have him at the helm of BRHS and looks forward to his leadership.
