About BRMS
Blue Ridge Middle School presently has approximately 200 students enrolled in 6th through 8th grade. Middle school students have the opportunity to participate in various academic clubs, UIL athletic and academic events, community service, and various character-building programs.
Students in 7th and 8th grade are offered the following UIL sports: football, volleyball, cross country, basketball, and track. Cheerleaders at the middle school level play an important role in all athletic events. BRMS offers Junior FFA as a training tool for high school Future Farmers of America and it also enables students to participate in local, county, and major livestock shows. All middle school students have the opportunity to join the band and participate in marching competitions, concert competitions, football games, and local community concerts.
Character building programs are utilized in middle school, such as participation in a district wide Veteran’s Day assembly, Red Ribbon Week, helping with the Angel Tree during Christmas, and actively participating in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Pennies for Patients program. Student government and nine-week academic awards assemblies recognize those students that excel throughout the school year.
BETA organization is a vital part of the academic honors program for 7th and 8th graders. A UIL middle school one act play and UIL A+ academic events are offered to middle school students for district competition. Throughout the school year, students are also offered book fairs in the school library. Students often participate in school board meetings to enlighten and demonstrate the latest technology used in the classroom or share a special event with members.
There is great value to field trips and BRMS participates in some throughout the year. They allow students and teachers to get out of the formal context of the classroom and cultivate shared experiences.
The staff of Blue Ridge Middle School also go above and beyond to provide not only a high rigor of academics, athletics, various clubs and programs, but they enjoy creating a fun learning atmosphere for students with an annual talent show and an end of year field day filled with games and fun.
