Career and Technical Education
  • CTE, or Career and Technical Education, is a multi-year sequence of academic and CTE courses that provides students with a structured progression of secondary and post-secondary instruction toward a specific career area. The goal of CTE is to set a clear path of career technical coursework from middle school through college to a rewarding career.

CTE is a federally funded program based on the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Act of 2006.

Texas comprises 16 career clusters, including 79 programs of study and unlimited career pathways.
