Dr. Scott Leslie
Dr. Leslie came to Blue Ridge High School in the Fall of 2009. For the first two years he was here, he taught Mathematics (Algebra I, Math Models with Applications, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus). In the Fall of 2011 he was transferred to the Social Studies Department where he has taught World History Studies, US History after Reconstruction, Psychology, Sociology, Economics and US Government. Dr. Leslie is certified by the State of Texas in 8-12 Social Studies and 5-8 & 8-12 Mathematics. Two years ago he returned to math instruction, teaching Algebra 1 and Geometry. Since then he has returned to teaching Social Studes and Career & Technical Education (CTE). This year he will teaching US History after Reconstruction, Economics & Government, History in Film, and Career Preparation and Practicum.
Prior to beginning his teaching career in 2007, Dr. Leslie had served the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) as a full-time pastor and missionary, serving churches in Virginia, Kansas, Florida and Texas, as well as serving as a volunteer missionary in Korea and a full-time mission co-worker in Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo). Dr. Leslie graduated from Clear Lake High School, in Houston, Texas, in 1974. In 1978 he graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station with a B.S. in Psychology, minoring in Mathematics and Biomedical Engineering. While an unergraduate student he interned at NASA/Johnson Space Center, working in the BioMedical Engineering section, with focus on Skylab Medical Experiments, the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project water quality, and human waste disposal systems for the Space Shuttle. In 1982 he received his doctorate in pastoral counseling from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia.
Dr. Leslie married his wife, Mary, in 1984. They have two grown daughters, Sarah and Abigail. Dr. Leslie continues his service to the church outside of school hours, currently serving as the Stated Supply Pastor for the Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Desert.
Dr. Leslie has several hobbies, including playing guitar and reading science fiction and detective novels. He and his wife reside in Allen.
