The School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is an advisory group comprised of individuals who represent the community and school district. The group acts collectively to provide advice to the BRISD ADministration on aspects of the school district's health program.
What does the SHAC Do?
The SHAC has a variety of roles addressing all components of a comprehensive school health program. The components include:
1. Health instruction
2. Healthy school environment
3. Health services
4. Physical education
5. School counseling
6. Food service
7. Health promotion for staff
8. Integrated school and community programs
SHAC Meeting Dates
The State of Texas requires that the SHAC meet four times per school year. The first meeting of the 2021-2022 school year is scheduled for September 29, 2021. All meetings are held at Blue Ridge Elementary School at 4:00 p.m.
